Drop something in water?  This is sealed, reusable and works better than rice.  Sure it's more pricey, but if you're clumsy and/or have kids, this is a perfect way to save your electronics from an untimely death.

Rice doesn’t even work . It doesn’t absorb moisture without being cooked. One of the best things to do is leave whatever it is  out in the open and point a fan at it.

Bullshit, use the rice for  sake or beer. Tell me that isn’t a better use for rice than absorbing water.

Ric e will work, that article is anti vaxxer level of scientific.  Will other things work better? sure, but rice and desiccants work just fine.  If you're ultra worried, purge oxygen with an inert gas.

You’re right. I dug a little further and found a peer-reviewed study on PubMed, and uncooked white rice is about as effective as a commercial dessicant: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/27869510

When I’ve dunked/spilled upon my electronics, I’ve had success with disassembly + a fan, so that’s what I go for. It’s even zero-cost (though it’s not like rice is gonna break the bank).

Would you say that it tastes better or worse than a Tide Pod?

Asking for a friend.

I won’t swear this works, but there’s other products with silica gel. I’ve tried this product, and it seemed to do a good job after my wife put her iPhone in a cup of tea by accident. (She sets the phone in a cupholder in the car, but this time the cupholder had a cup of tea in it.)  I ‘charged’ it first in the oven to try to ensure it would absorb water.

Must be food, because I don’t immediately see “Do Not Eat” anywhere on there.
